Laura is an experienced and effective educational leader with a counseling and executive leadership background and a 26-year track record of success. She has held cabinet-level positions at Houston, Austin, and Corpus Christi independent school districts in Texas. Laura is now the chief of school improvement at K-12 Leadership Diagnostics, where she shares her expertise with aspiring school and district leaders.

Dr. Laura Stout has served in various teaching, executive, and cabinet-level leadership positions in nine school districts throughout her career. She is originally from the Rio Grande Valley and has worked as a school transformation leader at Tyler, Corpus Christi, and Austin independent school districts in Texas. Laura was a member of the cabinet leadership team during the inaugural year of the Texas Education Agency’s historic takeover of the Houston Independent School District, leading 68 of 274 schools and 64,000 of 189,000 students.
Laura earned her bachelor’s degrees in art from the University of North Texas and history from the University of Texas at Brownsville. She received master’s degrees in guidance and counseling and curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M University. Laura holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Dallas Baptist University.
