She is a first-generation college graduate who grew up near the Mexico-US border and deeply understands the transformative power of a high-quality education. Paula is proud to be bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate, and she has dedicated her life to ensuring that her journey is not unique, but rather the norm for all students who share her background.

Dr. SantaPaula García has 25 years of dynamic leadership experience in public education and nonprofit organizations. As President at CollegeSpring, she oversees the growth of its impact across the country to help first-generation students from low-income backgrounds unlock better college and career opportunities after high school. As Senior Vice President of Regions at Teach For America, Paula was responsible for ensuring that communities had the human capital to provide a quality education to every child.
Paula implemented early college programs in two large school districts along the Texas-Mexico border in the culturally rich Rio Grande Valley while working for Educate Texas. She made a significant impact by training and supporting educational leaders, facilitating coaching and feedback for classroom teachers, and conducting curriculum audits to ensure alignment with college courses. Paula was the founding principal of the flagship IDEA Academy in Donna, Texas.
Paula earned a Bachelor of Arts, Masters in Spanish literature and education from the University of Texas, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Texas A&M University - Kingsville. As a first-generation college graduate, she deeply understands the life-changing opportunities a quality education can provide. Paula is steadfast in her resolve to give more children, especially those sharing her background, the opportunity for a better life.
